Juanita Lovret lived in the Tustin area her entire life.
She began her journalistic
career as an editor for Tustin Grammar School's TGS
Talkie. then worked for
The Tustin News before entering Tustin High
and becoming a Broadcaster staff member
and editor.
She earned both a degree in journalism and a teaching
credential at USC. Her career was
a mix of teaching, writing and editing. She taught at
Tustin High School in the early 50s
and in the Saddleback College emeritus program at Leisure
World for almost 15 years.
She also did free lance writing and edited a trade magazine
in Newport Beach.
She was selected as Tustin Woman of the Year for 1996.
Active in many organizations
over the years, she was a past president of the Tustin
Area Historical Society. After
being president she continued to be very active in doing
publicity.
For many years Juanita wrote a weekly column for the Tustin
News called, "Remember When."
She wrote about her memories of growing up in Tustin as
well as earlier histories of many of Tustin leaders, institutions,
and buildings.
She wrote two books about Tustin, "Remember When" and
"Tustin As It Once Was."
Both are avalible at The Tustin Area Museum.
